Further Information

The Sitter
- is believed to be Fernand Truffaut from Mory-Montcrux and Ausconne, Cote d'Or, in France.

Other Information
- the artist became a friend of the Truffaut family in the 1920's and 1930's.
His mother, Gabrielle Truffaut, wrote (translated from French):

"He is 16 1/2 years old and is tall and slim and like a young Englishman with finesse and good manners.  He will be an engineer in the factory he says.  He listens well to his leader to hopefully earn more.  It seems he has one more year to be paid a man's wage and now he is trying to be older.  All in good time I say".

Fernand, who had brother Gabriel (also sketched by the artist), married Paulette (Friemont) and had two daughters, one being Arlette.
